EirGrid Leinster U21 Football Championship Quarter-Final

Laois v Wicklow, Portlaoise, 7.30pm

This fixture was due to take place last week but was postponed. Both these sides booked their places in the quarter-finals with morale boosting Round 1 victories two weeks ago.

Laois, managed by Derek Conroy, recorded a 3-15 to 1-14 win over Louth with gifted Killeshin-Crettyard attacking duo Eoin Lowry and Evan O'Carroll running the show up front, hitting 1-8 between them.

Michael Keogh also had a good evening, hitting two second half goals which proved in ultimately holding off a plucky Louth side. Laois, champions most recently in 2006 and 2007, reached the quarter-finals last year and would love to go one better this year and set up a last four game against either Meath or Dublin.

Wicklow, managed Jonathan Daniels, with the close assistance of senior manager Johnny Magee, had an excellent win in Round 1, defeating Carlow 5-12 to 3-13 on Barrowside to make up for the disappointment of a heavy Round 1 defeat in 2015 to Longford.

Gary Allen (1-4), Patrick O'Connor (1-2), Marc Lennon (1-0) were all impressive performers for Wicklow last time out, as was Avondale clubman Seán McGraynor, brother of Wicklow senior star Conor.

The winner will play Dublin in the semi-final on March 19.
