Galway forward Sean Armstrong has retired from inter-county football.

Armstrong, who won three Connacht Senior medals with Galway, also helped Salthill-Knocknacarra earn AIB All Ireland Club glory in 2006.

In 2005 Armstrong and Michael Meehan were influential figures as Galway secured the All Ireland Under 21 title in impressive fashion.

At the end of the 2014 Championship Armstrong stepped away from the Galway set-up, but made a good impact when returning for the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.
