Bernie Higgins

Bernie Higgins from Rathnure comes from a large family with strong links to hurling and Camogie in the Rathnure area. In her interview, she talks about playing with her brothers and sisters and beginning her competitive involvement at the age of nine. She discusses her involvement with Camogie in school, with her club and with county teams, charting her transition from player to coach. The highlights of her playing and coaching career are highlighted, in particular the 1995 All-Ireland club success. Higgins also offers perspectives on changing approaches to training, the place of Camogie within the local community and the voluntary roles that women play within their clubs.
