Oral History

Henry Neylon and Pat Hynes

Henry Neylon and Pay Hynes talk about their memories of the GAA and with Michael Cusack’s in particular – both when it was founded initially in the 1940s and reformed in the 1960s. This involvement ranges from playing to coaching and administration. They also talk about Michael Cusack’s links to the area. They discuss travelling around the country to support the county team, listing disappointments and notable successes, including All-Ireland victories in 1995 and 1997. They also talk about the population and geography of the parish, citing low numbers and emigration as problems for the club, which has led to amalgamations at underage levels.
