LGBTQI+ community encouraged to participate in Gaelic Games
The formation of the Equity ,Diversity and Inclsuion Working Group is just one example of the proactive work the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association are currently doing in the area of inclusion.
Ger McTavish works as a full-time Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the GAA and advisor to our sister organisations, and her brief is a wide-ranging one. “The aim of the GAA is to offer an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment for everyone,” says McTavish. “Over the last 10 years the GAA have been working very hard in the area of inclusion and integration.
The GAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Sinead Crowley as chairperson of the GAA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion working group and Tanya Roberts Brown as the new Chairperson of the GAA Wheelchair Hurling/ Camogie working group.
Tanya and Sinead bring their extensive experience and expertise in disability, diversity, and Inclusive practices to this position. Sinead has been an active member in her local club in Clonakilty, pioneered the Cúl Eile Inclusive GAA camp, and has been an active member of the GAA For ALL committee.
Tanya has been chairperson of Bord na nÓg and PRO of her local club Na Dunaibh, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the issues pertinent to our organisation's objectives.
"We are delighted to have both Sinead and Tanya assume the roles" said Geraldine McTavish, GAA Diversity and Inclusion Manager. "Their leadership will undoubtedly steer the working groups towards accomplishing our strategic objectives and advancing our mission to increase awareness of the GAA wheelchair Hurling/ Camogie sport, football for all sport and the wide brief of the Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. "Their passion for excellence and commitment to driving positive change will be invaluable assets as we work together to address the challenges and opportunities ahead."
