Electric Ireland, proud sponsor of the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championships, is delighted to announce 15 exceptional performers from the 2024 Minor Football season, as it reveals the 2024 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Star Football Team of the Year and the Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year. As Electric Ireland reflects on their 13th year in partnership with the GAA, the 2024 Championship was a season that saw big provincial wins, tightly fought extra time, tough defeats, a new generation of talent coming through and many moments across minor that will last the players’ lifetime.

In an impressive series of big match-ups, it was an all-Ulster final where Derry took the win over Armagh to become back-to-back Electric Ireland GAA Minor Football champions. Armagh dominated possession in the first quarter with a hard fought battle from both sides throughout. With just 10 minutes to go, Derry came back with a killer goal which sealed the deal for the champions at O’Neill’s Healy Park.

In this year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year, the dominant Ulster province saw 9 players taking a spot on the team, with 4 players from Armagh and 5 players from Derry featuring. The traditional football stronghold of Kerry had 3 players in the team, with the final 3 players coming from Mayo.

Electric Ireland has also announced this year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Player of the Year: Derry’s James Sargent. The midfielder and captain of his county was a standout player throughout this campaign, scoring a goal in the All-Ireland final as well as being awarded player of the match on the day. With Sargent’s exceptional skill and talent highlighted in this year’s championship, it is no surprise that he also featured in last year’s Electric Ireland Minor Star Football Team of the Year and makes him a back-to-back Minor champion.
