Holders Ulster University made an impressive Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup start, defeating ATU Sligo, 2-17 to 1-7.
Senan Carr's opening period goal ensured Ulster University departed armed with a 1-6 to 0-2 interval advantage.
After the restart Danny Fullerton added a second Ulster University goal from a penalty.
Conor Johnston replied with a brilliant goal for ATU Sligo, but Ulster University, with Danny Magill outstanding, prevailed.
