John Divilly's charges finished strongly to defeat a talented University of Galway outfit.
Ben O'Carroll's return is a significant attacking addition, while at the opposite end of the pitch goalkeeper Killian Roche continues to impress.
UL, beaten finalists last year, survived a tough encounter against DCU Dóchas Éireann.
Paul Keaney, Frank Irwin, and Ciarán Downes were effective for UL, who know that another high stakes match looms against UCD.
Inniskeen hosts Ulster University's clash with Maynooth University which should be lively too.
The Canavan brothers enjoyed some productive moments for Ulster University in an impressive triumph over TU Dublin in the capital last week.
That convincing victory illustrated Ulster University's ability, but Maynooth will be heartened by the quarter-final triumph over Queens.
Eoghan Frayne, motoring well for Meath early in the year, landed the decisive score in that game for Maynooth, who also include Kildare's Darragh Kirwan.
