Dublin attacker Diarmuid Connolly has just about edged out Monaghan's Kieran Hughes in this week's GAA.ie Footballer of the week vote.
The St. Vincent's clubman producd an outstanding performance for Dublin as they proved too strong for Laois in Saturday's Leinster SFC Quarter-Final at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.
For his typically dynamic disply in the Dublin half-forward line he was awarded with 38 per cent of the votes cast on the GAA's official Twitter (@officialgaa), Facebook, and Instagram pages.
That saw him pip Monaghan's Kieran Hughes into second and his Dublin team-mate Dean Rock into third.
GAA.ie Footballer of the Week
1: Diarmuid Connolly - 3389 (38 per cent)
2: Kieran Hughes - 3321 (37 per cent)
**3: **Dean Rock - 2172 (25 per cent)
**Diarmuid Connolly's **class was to the fore in Dublin's win over Laois on Saturday as he scored an impressive 1-4 from play.
He showed some leadership too, because when two Laois goals early in the second half brought Mick Lillis' team to within six points of Dublin, it was Connolly who put his team on the front-foot again by kicking two splendid points in quick succession.
Connolly's influence was not just felt on the scoreboard. His ability to pick a pass and bring others into the play was also crucial to Dublin's fluent attacking display.
It's a testament to Kieran Hughes' performance for Monaghan against Down that he came within a single percentage point of Connolly in the public vote.
He gave the Farney County a great reference point in attack thanks to his ability to win hard-ball and finish clinically.
He scored two fine points with his first two shots on goal, and then killed off the Down challenge in the second-half with an emphatically finished goal.
**Dean Rock **has been arguably Dublin's most consistent player for the past couple of years and he produced another top-drawer performance on Sunday.
The Dublin full-forward scored a goal after just 14 seconds against Laois, and remained a pivotal figure throughout the match.
He finished with a highly impressive haul of 1-10, 1-4 of which came from play.
