Michael Fitzsimons has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

The Dublin full back received 5, 150 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of colleagues Paul Mannion (4,535) and Colm Basquel (1,924).

Michael Fitzsimons (Dublin)

Michael Fitzsimons won a ninth All-Ireland SFC title following an absorbing duel with Kerry captain David Clifford. Fitzsimons was a key figure as Dublin returned to the summit of the Gaelic Football world.

Paul Mannion (Dublin)

Kilmacud Crokes clubman Paul Mannion clipped vital scores throughout the game for Dublin, finishing with a five point haul, including four from play. When the need was great, Mannion produced a brilliant attacking display for Dessie Farrell's outfit.

Colm Basquel (Dublin)

Another dynamic display from Colm Basquel, who rifled over two important points, while also crafting the chance for Paddy Small's critical second half goal. It has been a splendid campaign for the Ballyboden St Enda's forward.
