Four All Ireland minor triumphs in a row means significant expectation is attached to the Kerry footballers presently and Sean O'Shea produced a class display in the victory over Donegal.

It was an absolute thriller in Killarney as Kerry eventually took the spoils despite a gutsy Donegal effort with O'Shea's seven point haul, including three from play, carrying huge importance.

Kildare were posing questions in the opening period, but Dublin, inspired by midfielder Brian Fenton, found the answers at Croke Park.

Fenton concluded the contest with 1-3, grabbing a splendid goal following a clever Bernard Brogan flick as Dublin took command after the restart.

A year ago Mayo suffered an opening weekend loss to Monaghan, but Stephen Rochford's charges shaded a keenly contested battle in Clones.

Paddy Durcan has popped up with dramatic scores in the past for the Green and Red with the Castlebar Mitchels clubman drilling a sweet point at the end to earn Mayo a fine away triumph.
