Sligo Eye Connacht Title Challenge
Star Forward Adrian Marren admits many of the experienced player's in the Sligo panel are desperate for one last chance to land another Connacht title. The Yeats' County were beaten in the provincial decider in 2010 and 2012, having captured the Nestor Cup in 2007. Galway provide the opposition this weekend as the pair meet in an eagerly awaited semi-final. Galway were very much the dominant force in this rivalry until recent years when Sligo turned the tables in spectacular style. Sligo beat Galway in 1975 but had to wait until 2007 for their next victory, winning the Connacht final by a point. Galway beat them in the 2009 semi-final but since then Sligo have won two and drawn one of the three clashes with the Tribesmen. It leaves Sligo leading 3-1 with one draw from the last five clashes. Sligo, who finished fourth in Division 3 of this year's Allianz Football League, are having their first championship outing while Galway, who finished sixth in Division 2, beat London in the quarter-final.
