Before Christmas Tipperary's mixture of experienced and emerging talent enjoyed a fine 4-14 to 2-17 win over Limerick.
A 3,224 crowd witnessed the game against the All Ireland champions with Liam Sheedy's return as the Tipperary manager among the interesting subplots.
Sheedy has praised the passion and purpose of his players recently and they will be eager to make another positive impression at MacDonagh Park.
Kerry were spirited against Limerick in their opener on a miserable evening in Tralee so Fintan O'Connor will be demanding an equally defiant display.
Seamus Callanan's splendid 2-8 haul against Limerick was noteworthy with Tipperary busy planning and plotting ahead of the Allianz Hurling League where further experimentation is likely.
