GAA Special Congress yesterday voted to reformat the GAA’s Official Guide with 86 per cent of delegates in favour of the motion.

Part 1 will now contain the Association’s fundamental aims and set out its structure and will continue to be the exclusive responsibility of Congress. Part 2 of the Official Guide will contain the playing rules which will also remain the exclusive responsibility of Congress.

The major change brought about by today’s Special Congress relates to procedure and policy rules that have now become the responsibility of Central Council rather than Congress and are now known as ‘Codes’.

Amendments of Codes will be dealt with at the annual Central Council meeting in March and they can also be amended at any time of the year with the consent of Coiste Bainistí.

The Official Guide and Codes will now also be easily available online with hyper-links. Gender-neutral language will be used throughout the reformatted Official Guides and Codes.
