The Derry star received 2, 794 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Galway's Paul Conroy (2,636) and Roscommon's Diarmuid Murtagh (2,582).

It was a dramatic Saturday evening in Castlebar as Derry eventually edged Mayo out of the All-Ireland SFC. Lachlan Murray was one of Derry's stars in the game, clipping five points for Mickey Harte's outfit.
Diarmuid Murtagh (Roscommon)
The accomplished Diarmuid Murtagh was an influential figure as Roscommon defeated Tyrone in the All-Ireland SFC. The St Faithleach's clubman struck four points as Roscommon triumphed in Omagh.
Paul Conroy (Galway)
St James' clubman Paul Conroy continues to inspire the Galway senior footballers. On Saturday at Pearse Stadium Conroy drilled over three points and was outstanding once more for Pádraic Joyce's team.
