Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns has paid tribute to Paddy Cullen, who died on Thursday.

The former Dublin goalkeeper and manager enjoyed a hugely successful sporting career.

During a glittering career, Cullen won three All-Ireland medals, six Leinster Championships, two National Football Leagues, and four All-Stars.

Cullen took charge of the Dublin senior footballers between 1990 and 1992, winning Leinster and National League titles.

Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns said: “The passing of the great Paddy Cullen is a loss that will be felt across the GAA. He was a giant, not just in his beloved Dublin, but throughout Gaelic games where he was revered as a real hero.

"A pivotal figure on a team that altered the course of football history and injected new life into the GAA in our capital, Paddy was one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever grace the game, and his penalty save in the 1974 All-Ireland final win over Galway unleashed the Decade of the Dubs that defined a generation and causes ripple effects through to today.

"His warmth and generosity will be cherished by all of those fortunate to have known and met him and our thoughts go to his family, teammates and great many friends. Leaba I measc na Naomh aige.”
