The Tipperary GAA football committee is recommending Philly Ryan as the new senior team manager in the Premier County.

The Clonmel Commercials clubman is a former Tipperary goalkeeper. In recent years Ryan has acted as a selector and manager at club and underage inter-county level.

“My philosophy has always been that football is all about the players," Ryan says.

"Players will judge me on how much I care as well as how much I know. The team is the star so every individual player and management member will have to leave their ego at the door.

"I subscribe to the old saying - it’s amazing what can be achieved when nobody cares who gets the credit."

Paul Cahill (Grangemockler Ballyneale) and Cathal Naughton (JK Brackens) will be involved in Ryan's backroom set-up.

Ryan's management team will be put forward for ratifcation by the Tipperary GAA County Committee.
