GAA.ie Football Player of the Week Nominations

Stefan Campbell (Armagh)

Armagh have not had the most auspicious of starts to the year, and one of the bigger concerns has been the apparent lack of an attacking focal point. That particular concern has surely eased after Stefan Campbell's masterclass against Galway on Sunday at the Athletic Grounds. Although Galway rescued a draw in the end, the powerful Lurgan man's display will have cheered hearts in the Orchard County. Campbell nailed a stunning haul of 1-9, 0-7 of which came from play. Powerfully built, brave and technically proficient, Campbell, 24, is developing fast for Armagh and his emergence as a forward of national ability has come at the right time for a side in desperate need of a saviour.

Evan O Carroll

Evan O'Carroll (Laois)

When Laois lost Kieran Lillis to a serious looking leg injury early on against Derry on Sunday in Portlaoise, they could have been forgiven for looking on the dark side. However, Evan O'Carroll, Lillis' replacement, quickly gave the home fans something to smile about. The 20-year-old Crettyard man has been making waves at U21 level recently, and he stepped up superbly to senior level on Sunday. He landed six points, including two superb long range frees, and his movement and energy in the full forward line was central to a strong Laois performance. An exciting prospect who could make a big impact for the O'Moore County this summer.

Darran O Sullivan

Darran O'Sullivan (Kerry)

"He's playing great stuff. Other years, at this time of the year especially he had injury issues, he hasn't been able to get a clean run at it but he worked very hard during the winter this year. Any issues that were there have cleared up." So said Kerry boss Éamonn Fitzmaurice on Sunday of Darran O'Sullivan, who has made a superb start to 2016 for the Kingdom. O'Sullivan turns 30 shortly, and he is arguably playing the best football of his career as he approaches that end-of-youth milestone. He was Kerry's best player in their impressive victory over Mayo, scoring two points, setting up their goal and also directly setting up another three points. Considering he was marking three-time All Star Lee Keegan, it makes the display even more impressive.
