Football Player of the Week Nominations

Diarmuid Connolly - Dublin

There's a strong arguement to be made that Diarmuid Connolly is now the very best forward in the country. He's been in excellent form this year and was sublime once again in Dublin's Leinster SFC Semi-Final victory over Meath.

He glided around the pitch with real class, kicked four points from play, and got the Dublin attack moving with his wonderful range of kick-passing.

One of those points was poetry in motion as he left a Meath defender for dead with a sudden change of pace and direction and then casually flighted the ball over the bar as if it was the easiest thing in the world to do.

Tomas Corrigan scored nine points for Fermanagh.

Tomás Corrigan - Fermanagh

Tomás Corrigan has been one of the most consistent forwards in the country this year and was excellent again for Fermanagh in thier All-Ireland Qualifier win over Wexford.

The corner-forward scored nine points, four of them from frees, as he led the Wexford full-back line a merry dance.

He has developed an instinctive understanding with Fermanagh full-forward Sean Quigley, and Wexford simply couldn't handle their little and large double-act.

Michael Quinn

Michael Quinn - Longford

Michael Quinn was the main man for Longford as they defeated Down after extra-time in Saturday's Round 1B All-Ireland SFC tie.

The all-action midfielder drove his team forward from the centre of the park and scored four fine points from play.

The Killoe man got on a huge amount of ball, and always did something positive with it. The energy he provided was the main difference between the two teams.
