Footballer of the Week nominees

There were just two Allianz Football League matches played over the weekend, both of which were rearranged ties that had been previously postponed because of bad weather.

Tyrone came good in the second-half to eventually run out convincing winners over Cavan, and Tipperary were too hot to handle for Longford in a high-scoring encounter at Semple Stadium.

The nominees for this week's GAA.ie Footballer of the Week are Conor Sweeney (Tipperary), Mark Bradley (Tyrone), and Geraoid McKiernan (Cavan).

The voting process is simple: retweet the image of your chosen player on the GAA's official Twitter account (@officialgaa) or like their image on the GAA's official Facebook and Instagram pages. Voting will close at 10am on Tuesday, March 14 and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.

Footballer of the Week nominations

Conor Sweeney - Tipperary

Tipperary's Conor Sweeney was one of the most clincial forwards in last year's All-Ireland Championship and this year he's picked up where he left off.

He was the main difference between the two teams as Tipperary defeated Longford by 3-17 to 0-18 on Saturday evening.

He scored 2-7, 2-4 of which was from play, as he gave an exhibition of forward movement, ball-winning ability, and clinical finishing.

Mark Bradley - Tyrone

It's a testament to the impact that Mark Bradley made against Cavan that he makes this list despite only appearing as a second-half substitute.

But it was his introduction after 45 minutes that really changed the whole complexion of the game as he brought a cutting edge to the Tyrone attack that had previously been absent.

The classy inside-forward scored three sweet points from play and created space and opportunities for his colleagues in the Tyrone attack with his speed and intelligent movement.

Gearoid McKiernan - Cavan

Cavan might have lost to Tyrone, but big midfielder Gearoid McKiernan won plenty of honour with his individual display.

He scored 1-4, 1-2 of which was from play, and in a first half dominated by Cavan it was he who really led their charge.

His goal was a wonderfully improvised finish as he delicately palmed the ball first-time over the head of the advancing Niall Morgan and into the back of the net.
