Important matches arrive thick and fast in the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup.

So, that valuable sporting ingredient - momentum - can be generated.

On the eve of the 2024 instalment several teams will believe that silverware can be attained.

UCC's triumph in 2023 illustrated what can be achieved by a well organised outfit. As usual UCC will be amongst the chief contenders, but a demanding assignment against Ulster University on Wednesday looms.

A first round loss didn't deter UCC last year, the response to a defeat against UL was impressive. Wins over ATU Galway, Queens (on penalties), and TU Dublin, and UL ensured UCC were worthy winners.

Inevitably promising Cork and Kerry talent is sprinkled throughout the panel with Tipperary's Seánie O'Connor also involved.

Ulster University's panel includes plenty of class too including Eoin McEvoy, Niall Loughlin, Ruairí Canavan, Darragh Canavan, Ben McCarron.

Queens, unfortunate to be edged out by UCC in a 2023 Round Three battle, host DCU Dóchas Éireann, featuring Meath's Mathew Costello, at The Dub.

University of Galway, who won the Division One Higher Education League before Christmas, have significant attacking craft including Tommy Conroy, Ryan O'Donoghue and Dylan Geaney.

TU Dublin, who visit Dangan on Tuesday evening, will be looking to Jack Flynn and Luke Swan for inspiration.

MTU Cork are at home to Maynooth University, who feature Conor Gray and Darragh Kirwan.

UCD will be eager to make an impact too, but face an awkward assignment away to ATU Galway. Daire Cregg, Rory Brickenden, Ryan O'Toole, and Aaron Lynch are in the UCD panel.

SETU Carlow and TUS Midlands will both be hopeful of gleaning a first round victory.

At the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence UL, with Darragh Cashman, Paul Keaney, and Corofin's Jack McCabe, meet ATU Donegal.

On Thursday St Mary's clash with ATU Sligo, who are backboned by several emerging inter-county players from the Yeats County.
