Holders UCD claimed a convincing victory over IT Sligo at Belfield.
IT Sligo were spirited during a well contested first half, but John Divilly's UCD were still 1-9 to 1-5 in front at the break.
Larry Moran and Eoghan Ban Gallagher traded goals with the home side showing signs of their attacking potential.
When the action recommenced UCD added four more goals courtesy of Paul Mannion, Conor McCarthy, Moran, and Tom Hayes with Dean McGovern bagging IT Sligo's second major.
St Mary's, Belfast produced a resilient display to defeat NUIG.
Managed by former Mayo footballer Maurice Sheridan, NUIG led at the interval by 1-6 to 1-3. Matthew Fitzpatrick netted an early goal for St Mary's, but NUIG responded impressively as half-time approached.

It was a similar story of UCC dominance in the second period with DCU St Patrick's unable to contain the promising visitors, who were prompted by the Spillanes, Adrian and Killian. Adrian Spillane registered 2-3, while Killian Spillane contributed 1-2.
Corofin's Martin Farragher struck the decisive goal as DIT beat Athlone IT. Injuries have disrupted Farragher's progress during the past couple of years, but the promising forward and Conor Madden impressed for the victors.
