Derek Lyng has been ratified as the new Kilkenny senior hurling team manager.
Lyng, who won six All-Ireland senior medals during a glittering playing career, has been given a three year term as Kilkenny boss.
Last month the decorated Brian Cody stepped down from the role.
Emeralds clubman Lyng served as a senior selector under Cody between 2014 and 2019.
In May Lyng was manager of the Kilkenny U20 team, who secured All-Ireland glory following a final win over Limerick.
A Kilkenny GAA statement confirmed Lyng's appointment. "Following Thursday night's meeting of Kilkenny County Board, Derek Lyng has been ratified as the Kilkenny senior hurling manager.
"A three-year term has been agreed. Selectors and backroom team will be confirmed later."
