Ronan Blair netted a goal from a penalty in the closing stages as Portaferry defeated Ballycran.

The excellent Blair, who finished with a 1-8 haul, clipped critical scores late on for Portaferry.

The goal with two minutes remaining edged Portaferry three points ahead before Ballycran narrowed the gap to the minimum.

Then Blair converted a free to seal the deal as Portaferry earned a 22nd Down SHC title.

A lively oipening period unfolded with Ballycran eventually departing 0-9 to 0-7 ahead following a sharp Portaferry start.

Connor Mageean was sent off for Portaferry in the second period as the issue remained delicately poised.

Following Blair's major a couple of frees from Scott Nicholson reduced the margin, but Portaferry prevailed.
