Nicky Rackard Relegation/Promotion Play-Off

Louth 7-19 Fermanagh 0-12

Andrew Mackin was Louth's hero as they comprehensively beat Fermanagh to gain promotion to next year's Nicky Rackard Cup.

The Fermanagh defence simply couldn't cope with Mackin who scored 4-4 in a hugely impressive display of clinical finishing.

There was little warning of the scoring deluge to come when Louth led by 0-4 to 0-2 after the first ten minutes, but Mackin's goal on the 14 minute mark opened the flood-gates. Further goals followed from Diarmuid Murphy and Paddy Lynch before Mackin's second of the day helped Louth into a 4-7 to 0-9 half-time lead.

It looked like Fermanagh might have a chance to fight their way back into the match when Louth's Mark Wallace was red-carded early in the second-half.

But before they could generate any momentum for a comeback their challenge was ruthlessly crushed as Mackin hit his third and fourth goals within a couple of minutes of Wallace's departure.

David Kettle then scored the Wee County's seventh goal of the day to add a final flourish to a brilliant win for the recently crowned Lory Meagher Cup Champions.
