Having suffered defeats in their opening fixtures both Waterford and Kilkenny need to earn points at Walsh Park.
Waterford hurled well in the first half against Tipperary, but Michael Ryan's team seized the initiative after the restart.
With Clare buzzing Kilkenny struggled at the outset, but they came roaring back in the second period.
Brian Cody's outfit are still without a string of injured players, but this match should be revealing.
