MUNSTER SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE
Sunday, January 17
Cork v Limerick, Mallow GAA Complex, 2pm
Cork continue to experiment under new manager Kieran Kingston, but they have recorded three successive wins after losing to Clare in their Munster Senior League opener. While they struggled past Kerry last Sunday, they had beaten UCC just 24 hours earlier in the Canon O'Brien Cup, while Wednesday's 2-18 to 0-13 win over Waterford was ground out in wretched conditions. Pa Cronin hit 1-8 while newcomer William Leahy scored 1-1, but Na Déise started with a very inexperienced side.
Limerick opened their campaign with a big win over Kerry but the bad weather has kept them out of action since January 3. TJ Ryan is expected to continue integrating players from last year's All-Ireland U21 winning side into his plans over the coming weeks.
Waterford v Clare, Carriganore, 2pm
Clare have opened their campaign with wins over Cork and Kerry and they should make it three in a row against a very inexperienced Waterford side on Sunday. Waterford lost heavily to Cork in midweek, but manager Derek McGrath continues to give fringe players a shot, with very few familiar names in his line-up for this home tie.
