Sligo Senior Hurling Championship Final
EASKEY 1-17 NAOMH EOIN 2-13
Thomas Cawley was the hero for Easkey as his spectacular late point secured victory over reigning champions Naomh Eoin in a highly competitive Sligo SHC Final.
That score crowned a powerful second-half display from Easkey who found themselves trailing by four points at half-time.
That was because Naomh Eoin finished the half in stunning fashion by hitting two goals in the space of couple of minutes when first Arthur Wall hit the back of the net and then Liam O’Kelly Lynch scored a cracker.
Easkey stared the second-half on the front-foot and drew level by the 40th minute.
It was as see-saw battle from there to the final whistle until Cawley popped up with that decisive, late point for Easkey who avenged last year’s Final loss to the same opponents and won their first county title since 1963.
