Westmeath's Tommy Doyle has been voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.

The imposing full back continues to impress for the midlanders, who advanced to the Leinster SHC Quarter-Final following a win over Meath in Mullingar.

Tommy Doyle earned 640 votes on the GAA's Official Twitter (officialgaa), Facebook, and Instagram pages with colleague Killian Doyle second and Laois' Ross King third.

GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

1: Tommy Doyle (Westmeath) - 640 votes (42%)

2: Killian Doyle (Westmeath) - 450 votes (30%)

3: Ross King (Laois) - 429 votes (28%)

An integral part of the Lake County's full back line, Tommy Doyle put in another exemplary performance on Sunday helping goalkeeper Paddy Moloney chalk up another clean sheet.

The Westmeath defence have been running a tight ship conceding only one goal in three of their round-robin fixtures.

Overcoming the Royals on Sunday by just two points, Doyle was at the heart of Michael Ryan's defence and will be aiming to go one better than last year by advancing to a Leinster Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final.

In what was a do or die clash for Westmeath on Sunday centre-forward Killian Doyle stepped up to claim an impressive 1-3 from play.

With the game in the balance Doyle produced the games telling moment when he netted the decisive goal in the 51st minute.

Throughout the game he controlled the half forward line and picked up three further points which ultimately made the difference meaning Westmeath will have a chance to topple Offaly on May 27.

Renowned as a corner forward, Ross King has since moved out to centrefield under manager Eamonn Kelly to link up with fellow club mate Patrick Purcell. It's turning into an excellent partnership with both players performing well.

As captain and free-taker for his county, King has been a leader for Laois who have now registered four successive victories in which the Rathdowney-Errill club man has racked up 46 points.

He put down another brilliant display at midfield on Sunday scoring 13 points which helped see off Kerry ensuring that Laois will go into their Quarter-Final with Wexford after recording a 100 per cent winning record in this year's Leinster Round Robin.
