eir sport has announced details of its live coverage of the forthcoming Allianz Leagues which will see 17 games broadcast across seven weekends. eir sport, the home of Saturday night Allianz League action, will feature 17 different counties over the course of its coverage with four games involving the reigning All-Ireland senior football champions, Dublin.
Mayo captain Cillian O’Connor, Tiernan McCann of Tyrone, Cork forward Patrick Horgan and Wexford’s Lee Chin joined Glen Killane, Managing Director of eir TV and Sport at eir sport HQ to make today’s announcement. The action gets underway on Saturday, 27th January with four games available live on eir Sport.
First up it’s two double-headers; one from Croke Park and one from the newly redeveloped Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The Dublin hurlers, under the management of All-Ireland winning football boss Pat Gilroy, take on Offaly while the footballers, last year’s beaten Allianz League finalists, face Leinster rivals Kildare at Croke Park. On Leeside, Cork’s footballers and hurlers, both under new management, face Tipperary and Kilkenny respectively.
That’s followed by a double header the following weekend. Defending Allianz League champions Kerry are in Castlebar to face Mayo while in hurling, last year’s defeated All-Ireland finalists Waterford, travel to Semple stadium to take on Tipperary.
