GAAGO, the GAA and RTÉ’s online streaming service for Gaelic Games outside of Ireland, today welcomed Etihad Airways’ renewed sponsorship of its international live and on-demand streaming of the 2016 GAA All-Ireland Championships.
This year GAAGO will stream over 120 GAA events worldwide including the All-Ireland Hurling and Football Senior Championship matches and The Sunday Game, RTÉ’s flagship highlights and analysis programme. The recent addition of a GAAGO channel on the Roku® streaming platform means Gaelic Games are now accessible on the big screen to ten million households across America alongside others channels such as the NFL and BBC Sport.
Etihad Airways sponsor GAAGO’s coverage of all matches throughout the summer, which will be streamed to Gaelic Games fans in over 180 countries internationally as a part the service in 2016.
Speaking at the launch Beatrice Cosgrove, Etihad Airways’ General Manager Ireland, said, “Etihad Airways is delighted to once again work alongside the GAA, our partner of eight years, and RTÉ as sponsor of the 2016 All-Ireland Championships coverage on GAAGO. Over the past two years, the service has revolutionised the viewing of GAA games around the world. As Gaelic Games continue to increase in popularity outside of Ireland, we’re proud to be a part of a service providing millions of new and existing fans across the globe with access to live fixtures each weekend.”
Peter McKenna, Stadium and Commercial Director of the GAA said, "Uptake of the GAAGO service around the globe continues to thrive week on week and it is fantastic to welcome back Etihad Airways, a long-standing partner of the GAA, as the official sponsor of our 2016 senior championship coverage. The summer ahead offers GAAGO an opportunity to bring a huge number of enthralling matches to our members in every corner of the world and we look forward to collaborating on numerous promotions with Etihad Airways during this time.”
Múirne Laffan, Chief Digital Officer, RTÉ said, “Etihad Airways has been a valued supporter and was the first sponsor of the service two years ago. From the outset, GAAGO has been embraced by GAA fans worldwide and we are delighted to see Etihad Airways continue to champion GAAGO as we expand and develop the service and grow our worldwide fan base.”
This partnership is part of a wider, longstanding relationship between the GAA and Etihad Airways, which also sponsors the GAA Hurling Championship, the Etihad Airways GAA World Games and the Etihad Skyline at Croke Park. Etihad Airways have partnered with the GAA since 2008.
Games on GAAGO are streamed in full HD and include commentary, scores, and studio programming as broadcast to audiences in Ireland. Subscribers can view the games online on almost any internet-enabled device including mobile phones, tablet devices and laptops.
