The GAA is delighted to announce that they have renewed their contract with Irish ticketing company tickets.ie up until 2020.
The announcement means that the GAA will be in a position to continue to guarantee its supporters that no ticket fee will apply when purchasing GAA match tickets via GAA.ie, or on the tickets.ie on-line and retail network which includes more than 350 Centra and SuperValu stores throughout Ireland.
Significant advancements have been made since the GAA and tickets.ie joined forces in 2011.
Ard Stiúrthóir Páraic Duffy said: “We are delighted to extend our relationship with tickets.ie up to 2020.
“It is vital for the GAA that we make it as easy as possible for people to gain access to tickets so that they can experience the thrill and excitement of attending Gaelic Games.
“It is great to be supporting an innovative and successful Irish business and I look forward to working with tickets.ie to enhance the GAA ticket process even further.”
Emma Tormey, GAA Ticketing Manager, said: “We are excited to work with tickets.ie to further develop GAA ticketing and embrace new technologies. Tickets have never been easier to purchase and we hope to continue to improve on this for our members and supporters.”
John O’Neill, CEO of tickets.ie said: “Ticketing the GAA is the equivalent of ticketing the Olympics every year.
“We have worked collaboratively with the GAA to provide a customised software system to fit their precise ticketing needs. Since winning the contract in 2011 tickets.ie have sold almost 11 million tickets - this figure exceeds the total tickets sold in Ireland in that timeframe for rugby, soccer and all the other sports combined.
“Tickets.ie are proud to provide ticketing to 23 out of the 25 top stadiums in Ireland, and in the 5 years we have serviced 150 matches in Croke Park alone. We look forward to further optimizing efficiencies with reduced costs which will benefit the thousands of GAA fans at all levels around the country."
