All Ireland SFC Qualifiers Round 3

Leitrim v Monaghan, Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, 2.30pm

A novel Championship pairing in Carrick-on-Shannon as Leitrim are keen to build on their satisfying success against Louth.

That display injected the locals with hope, but Monaghan are a seasoned outfit, who were far too strong for Waterford in Round Two.

Leitrim's panel is stocked with young and emerging players, who will want to examine themselves against an accomplished Monaghan team, who remain intent on earning a place in the last eight.

Armagh v Clare, Athletic Grounds, 3pm

Armagh stitched a fine run together in the qualifiers last year and are beginning to show some encouraging signs again.

Kieran McGeeney's team dealt adequately with what Westmeath and Sligo could muster as Rory Grugan flashed a reminder of his attacking ability.

Clare, though, negotiated an awkward hurdle themselves beating a pumped up Offaly.

That followed a hugely disappointing Munster Semi-Final loss against Kerry, but Colm Collins' charges know just how vital an encounter this trip to the Athletic Grounds is.

Cavan v Tyrone, Brewster Park, 5pm

Without a Championship win over Tyrone since 1983, Cavan will be hoping to cause a surprise in Enniskillen.

Having defeated Wicklow and Down in recent weeks Mattie McGleenan's charges, who secured promotion from Division Two of the Allianz League in the spring, are hopeful about delivering a substantial display.

Tyrone did exactly what was required during their two away successes over Meath and Carlow.

Mickey Harte's charges have shown themselves to be able competitors in these type of encounters previously. Cavan, though, under the guidance of former Tyrone star McGleenan, will be anxious to pose serious questions this weekend.

CAVAN: James Farrelly; Killian Brady, Padraig Faulkner, Enda Flanagan; Ciaran Brady, Martin Reilly, Fergal Reilly; Sean McCormack, Killian Clarke; Oisin Kiernan, Gearoid McKiernan, Niall Murray; Conor Bradley, Cian Mackey, Sean Johnston.

TYRONE: Niall Morgan; Padraig Hampsey, Ronan McNamee, Cathal McCarron; Michael McKernan, Frank Burns, Peter Harte; Colm Cavanagh, Declan McClure; Mattie Donnelly, Niall Sludden, Conor Meyler; Cathal McShane, Richard Donnelly, Connor McAliskey.

Kildare v Mayo, St Conleth's Park, 7pm

It has been an eventful week, but the only that that truly matters for the footballers of Kildare and Mayo happens this Saturday evening in Newbridge.

Following a wretched 12 months stuffed with defeats Kildare have posted qualifier wins over Derry and Longford.

Cian O'Neill's team, though, need to take a significant scalp and Mayo are a team of proven players at the highest level.

Injuries to Tom Parsons and Seamus O'Shea trim Mayo's centrefield options, but Stephen Rochford has come up with interesting solutions to problems in the past.

A jam packed St Conleth's Park provides the backdrop for what is an eagerly anticipated fixture.

KILDARE: Mark Donnellan; Peter Kelly, David Hyland, Mick O'Grady; Johnny Byrne, Eoin Doyle, Kevin Flynn; Kevin Feely, Tommy Moolick; Fergal Conway, Paul Cribbin, Keith Cribbin; Neil Flynn, Daniel Flynn, Paddy Brophy.

MAYO: David Clarke; Chris Barrett, Ger Cafferkey, Keith Higgins; Lee Keegan, Colm Boyle, Paddy Durcan; Diarmuid O'Connor, Stephen Coen; Kevin McLoughlin, Aidan O'Shea, James Durcan; Jason Doherty, Cillian O'Connor, Andy Moran.
