Muldoon announces inter-county retirement

Enda Muldoon has retired from inter-county football with Derry.

Muldoon, a GAA All Star in 2004, has decided to call time on his 15-year career with the Oak Leaf County, aged 34.

The Ballinderry clubman did not travel to Newbridge last Sunday for the Allianz Football league Division II defeat to Kildare.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Muldoon said he has made a definitive decision and will not be seen in a Derry jersey again.

"I always said when I finished that would be it and there would be no going back," he said.

"That door has closed. I'm not going to retire one week and come back the next week. There will be a void in my life, but I'm just going to have to get something else to take over that void.

"I don't know what. I'm going to have to start playing golf or something. I played darts. Maybe I'll take that up again. Ballinderry will give me something to do."
